Searching in specific fields (e.g. Keywords, Places, Persons, States)
Accessing / downloading a document
· This database contains all documents issued by the CPT (excluding press releases).
·
It includes:
- all reports of the CPT (in most cases either English or French);
- all public statements made by the CPT (available in both English and
French);
- the "substantive" sections of the CPT's Annual General Reports
(available in both English and French).
· These documents types can be searched individually or together.
· Because of their length, all the documents have been split into sections (typically divided by chapters).

· You may type uppercase or lowercase (they are treated the same).
· You may enter non-English characters (e.g. accents) or replace them by the corresponding English character.
· You may either use the "Alphabetical list" or the "Hierarchical list". (Click on the icons right of the field).
· In the latter case, you may decide if you wish to include narrower terms (e.g. if a search for "United Kingdom" should include "Scotland").
· You can access and print a list of the codes for Keywords, Places, Persons and States [PDF format].
· The results are displayed below the search fields. (If necessary, scroll down to see the results on this screen.
· Click on the title of the section to see its text in Internet format (HTML).
· Click on the icons to download an original version of this document onto your computer or to view an original version within your browser.
· Depending on your browser you might have to click in the window (typically the text section) before printing.

By default,
your search will retrieve at most 500 items.
(In case you get 500 results try changing this figure.)

By default,
you will view 20 items per page.
(You can change this, e.g. to see all items on one page in order to print a
list.)
·
By default,
your search does not include word variations.
(If you decide to include word variations, your search will include grammatical
variations of the same word: A search for "strike" will also find the
words "strikes", "struck" etc.)
