Council of Europe Anti-Torture Committee publishes report on San
Marino
Strasbourg, 10.06.2004 - The Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention
of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) published
today the report on its periodic visit to San
Marino in June 1999, together with the San Marinese Government's response.
These documents have been made public with the agreement of the San Marinese
authorities.
The CPT's delegation followed up a certain number of issues already examined
during the 1992 visit, in particular in respect of San Marino Prison and the
Police and Gendarmerie Headquarters. In addition, the delegation visited a
psychiatric establishment (Neuro-Psychiatric Department of the San Marino Civil
Hospital) and an establishment for juveniles ("Casa Famiglia").
