Council of Europe Anti-Torture Committee publishes report on
Andorra
Strasbourg - 20.09.2006 - The Council of Europe's Committee for the
Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) has
published today the report on its visit to
Andorra in February 2004, together with the
responses of the Andorran Government. These documents have been made public
at the request of the Andorran authorities.
The report contains, in particular, recommendations to strengthen fundamental
safeguards against ill-treatment of persons in police custody, and to improve
the material conditions of detention in prison establishments. The responses of
the Andorran Government outline the efforts undertaken by the Government to
implement the Committee’s recommendations.
